Perhaps the most damning comment on the incident was delivered by the Finn [J. Karjalainen] who was strip-searched. On a couple of occasions prior to 1991, he was detained by the KGB and interrogated. Compared to the ICE agents here in the Twin Cities, the KGB operatives, he says, "at least acted like human beings. Not a bunch of animals."

a violin lesson and the start of second-year Chinese
Submitted by osg on Sun, 2007/09/23 - 17:46I had a violin lesson today and it went very well despite feeling quite burnt out and feverish for part of last week. So the time has come to jump back onto the focus train. Good thing, because second-year Chinese starts tomorrow. Thus far, I have received an A in all four Mandarin Chinese classes. Let's make it five!
