babies and crutches
Submitted by osg on Thu, 2008/01/31 - 17:52Other things that I noticed in Zürich were LOTS of mothers pushing baby strollers around and/or pregnant, and people on crutches. It seems that the crutches are a result of the nearby Alps.
Upon further conversation, women's roles in Switzerland are still far behind those of progressive countries; women just gained the right to vote in Switzerland in 1971. Big strike against CH there.
Zürich feels somewhat like Helsinki
Submitted by osg on Tue, 2008/01/29 - 09:03Having walked around Zürich for a few days, I found it gives off a feeling that of Helsinki. Everything just works here, from plumbing, anything electrical, trams, trains, and more.
Being here took me back to a time when smoking in airports was normal. Here, many people seem to smoke. Admittedly, eating a meal next to cigarette smoke is something that I would like to not get over being disgusted by. Yuck.
I might head up to Basel, Switzerland tomorrow for a day trip. That and/or stroll around taking photos. I have to capture a cigarette dispenser, which look so old fashioned and cool, those Zigaretten. Makes me want to light one up, despite my dislike of smoking now.
huge-ass London
Submitted by osg on Thu, 2008/01/24 - 03:21London takes planning; this place is enormous. Unlike Dublin, Ireland where one can retain some sense of direction while walking around, London can be a pain in the ass. That is, if you do not preplan an adventure. Living here would prove to be more enjoyable than mere visiting because one would have a chance to learn an area, then another, then another, and yet another. The tube is pretty dirty, but downright impressive when considering its size and maze-like nature. Off to Zurich tomorrow in the heart of ski/boarding season.

olisi kiva soittaa...
Submitted by osg on Fri, 2007/11/02 - 22:16Olisi kiva soittaa Eliakselle ja jutella elämistämme.
